In general, you should use the weapons and note their strengths and weaknesses to decide what you think will serve you best in any given situation.Īssault Rifle and Heavy SMG for high overall damage with sacrifices to magazine size, rate of fire, and reload time. DMR headshots already leave smaller enemies headless but not dead, and Main Damage boosters give it that extra little push to get one-hit kills. Now after the nerf this setup is more limited at dealing with swarms.Īs a footnote, Boosters that increase Main Damage will make the DMR the best weapon for clearing, provided you are landing headshots. Before the nerf to Mines capacity, this setup got me through most of Rundown 4 easily because I could use mines for trapdoors without a second thought and still have decent tool economy. With this setup, I suck at swarms and certain other enemy types. You get 3 sniper rounds per hit of an ammo pack. The ammo isn’t a problem if you’re using about the same percentage of your main weapon. I kill all heavies and singular Scouts so that my team doesn’t have to, and can use their ammo on dealing with smaller enemies. The Sniper does everything that the Pistol can’t do, even with the heavy limitations on the sniper. Great ammo economy, great stagger at close range, and always pops heads at close range, which makes it easier for the rest of your team to clean up. While handguns are usually considered “secondary” in most shooters, I’m glad GTFO shines a spotlight on a reliable, balanced pistol. You can’t go wrong with the Pistol in this game. I’m a conservative player, focusing on stealthing and making calls to my team. I’m always running Pistol/Sniper/Mines, and then usually being the “terminal user” for my groups. Here’s my spreadsheet with some damage numbers and efficiency calculations: Generally, I find myself running pistol/hel rifle when running with a team, combat shotgun if I’m running solo. Just bear in mind, shooting a small sleeper or even a charger with the sniper rifle is a huge waste of ammo. Generally, I don’t recommend the sniper rifle, but it can definitely be useful if there’s a VERY giant heavy level. If the enemies are small and tend to trickle in a bit slower, the semi-auto shotgun or revolver are both nice. Big clustered waves, big or little? HEL weapons, machine gun, shotguns, whatever. Lots of small dudes? One of the shotguns will definitely be fun. Use them if you love them, but I wouldn’t go out of my way.įor secondary weapons, it is very situational.

I generally don’t recommend the others for various reasons - inefficient or hard to use efficiently, without any significant redeeming features. If you’re more into automatic weapons, SMG is great for it’s fast reloads, heavy SMG is a great option for overall damage potential. That said, pistol and DMR are both great for single-shot primaries - pistol can spam if needed and has faster reload, DMR has more scope magnification and higher damage per shot, but similar overall damage potential. As always, I recommend coordinating with your team for tools, but running the weapons that you feel you are the most effective with, and not criticizing others for doing the same. The weapons in this rundown are generally more well balanced than in R4, in my opinion.
